Blog 1 - Introduction

Hello everyone,

My name is Confido Banza, and I am thrilled to introduce myself to all of you. Currently, I work in Washington, DC, as a Senior ICT Consultant for the United Nations Migration Agency. Before moving to DC, I spent six amazing years in Tucson, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Cyber Operations with a focus on Defense and Forensics. I also hold an associate degree in Business Administration from Pima Community College. My educational journey and experiences have been deeply rewarding and have shaped my passion for blending technical expertise with strategic business insights.

During my time in Tucson, I had the opportunity to work as a Network Engineer for various private companies, which helped me gain invaluable experience and a solid foundation in the IT field. I am honored to have received one of the most competitive scholarships offered by the US Department of State, enabling me to pursue a master’s degree. Upon completing this program, I look forward to working overseas as a Diplomatic Technology Officer for the department a unique opportunity to represent the United States abroad.

I am very excited about taking this online course in Business Intelligence (BI) Techniques, which is my third class in the program. I am eager to learn how to leverage BI to gain insights into various data types, including internal transactional data and external "Big Data" from websites and social media platforms such as Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). I believe this knowledge will be instrumental in enhancing my ability to make informed decisions and drive impactful results.

Outside of work and studies, I have a few passions that keep me grounded and fulfilled. I enjoy playing my acoustic guitar and spending time in nature through hiking. I am also deeply committed to volunteering for humanitarian causes, particularly helping immigrants understand and navigate life in the United States and assisting non-English speakers in communicating with healthcare providers. I speak six languages, with French being my primary language.

In addition to my professional and volunteer work, I am an evangelist preacher. I am dedicated to helping people struggling with drug addiction to find hope and the strength to change their lives for the better.

I am genuinely looking forward to this class and the opportunity to learn from each of you. Thank you for welcoming me to this community!

  1. Hi Confido, looking forward to going through the course with you. I enjoyed reading your introductory blog post. Six languages is impressive, I have a slight grasp on Spanish and have recently been using Duolingo to learn Vietnamese. My partner is Vietnamese so I would like to learn the language but it's challenging. Also, very interested the evangelical preacher piece of your post. Do you see yourself doing that as a primary career in the future?

    1. Hello Agillett,

One thing is real I enjoy preaching than any other thing in the world. That is the reason why I am now working so hard to see if in the near future I can have my own business that will allow me to do the gospel preaching full time.

  2. Hi Confido, nice to meet you. I see you mentioned having lived in Tucson and now in Washington D.C. Might you share some of the things you liked most about each location? Additionally, with your enjoyment of hiking in nature, do you have a favorite location to hike? Are there good hiking locations on the east coast?

    1. Hi Alfred,

I like the weather in DC because it's cool compared to the heat in Tucson. Lol. In DC I have my favorite place for Hiking and that's Rock Creek Trail Juniper TrailHead in the North West of DC. It's dog friendly and easy to access.

  3. Hi Confido - it is always interesting to hear what road people took to where they are now, and this is an impressive example of that! That sounds like a rewarding and exciting career path. Do you work with a particular organization in helping immigrants navigate life here? I guess I'm thinking only of IRC, which is such a great one. Also, how do you like DC? I'm from Baltimore, so I've spent a good amount of time there too!
